Charleston is gearing up for an inspiring event as the fourth annual Women for Women Summit is set to take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024. This year, the summit is moving to a larger venue, the Charleston Galliard Center, to better accommodate the growing number of participants eager to engage in discussions surrounding the theme of boldness.
Hosted by the College of Charleston School of Business, this summit is not just another event; it’s a joyous gathering dedicated to celebrating the achievements of remarkable business leaders while fostering connections among women from all walks of life. Paul Schwager, the dean of the School of Business, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are honored to host another year of the Women for Women Summit. The summit is an important platform that celebrates the achievements of business leaders, fosters connections, and inspires our students – the next generation of leaders. This year’s event promises to be both insightful and inspiring.”
The day will be packed with inspiring discussions and fantastic networking opportunities designed to help women across the state connect and uplift each other. It’s a chance to share experiences, exchange ideas, and foster meaningful relationships. Who wouldn’t want to be part of such an empowering atmosphere?
This year’s keynote speaker, Governor Lisa Cook of the Federal Reserve Board, is anticipated to be a standout highlight of the summit. With a rich background as a professor of economics and international relations at Michigan State University, Cook brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Joanna Lau, the chair of the Women for Women Summit and founder of Lau Acquisition Corporation, noted, “Lisa Cook embodies our theme of boldness in every facet of her journey, from breaking barriers in her field to advocating for equality and innovation. As our keynote speaker, she inspires us to embrace boldness in our own lives, encouraging us to lead with courage and conviction.”
Another significant aspect of the summit is the awarding of the 2024 Woman of Courage Award to Mary Thornley. Thornley has served as the president of Trident Technical College from 1991 until July 2024 and is a true champion for education. Her belief in the transformational power of education and its vital role in strengthening communities is genuinely inspiring. Over the years, she has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious South Carolina Order of the Palmetto.
If you’re excited about the chance to be part of this incredible event, tickets are available now for purchase.
