CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Winkler Group, one of the nation’s most reputed fundraising consulting firms, heralds a significant change in its management structure as the organization marks its 20th anniversary. Founding partner and principal, Tim Winkler, is set to assume the role of Chairman of the Board, with Jim Bush stepping into the position of President and CEO.
This meticulously planned executive transition reflects the vision and strategy laid out by the firm’s leadership team. It signals the Winkler Group’s long-term commitment towards delivering superior quality service, and the firm’s drive to continue expanding its footprint in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.
“It is my pleasure and honor to announce that Jim Bush will assume the role of President and CEO, effective June 1,” avows Winkler. “Upon his promotion, I will transition from CEO to Chairman of the Board of the Winkler Group.”
Having been at the helm of the Winkler Group as President since 2019, Bush’s leadership has been instrumental in fueling the firm’s growth. Over the last five years, not only has Winkler Group’s revenue doubled, but its team also expanded by 45%.
“Jim was practically performing the role of CEO even before he was conferred the title,” Winkler observes. “By embracing our firm’s mission and leading by example, he has truly excelled.”
In addition to revamping the firm’s core processes, Bush had initiated several strategic measures that have added clarity to the firm’s growth plan. Combined, these initiatives contributed to the remarkable business growth witnessed by Winkler Group.
As CEO, Bush plans to continue his transformative work in the fundraising arena, combating the generosity crisis — a decline in donations to charities over the past twenty years. His role involves empowering the nonprofit sector with the resources it needs to thrive.

As Chairman of the Board, Winkler will continue to work hand-in-hand with the firm’s leadership team on expansion and strategic vision. He plans to speak and write on the subject nationally and will head the firm’s merger and acquisition efforts.
