Weekend Festivities in Charleston: Food, Music, and Community Fun!

Weekend Fun Awaits in Charleston!

Charleston is buzzing with excitement this weekend as a delightful mix of festivities unfolds across the Lowcountry! Whether you’re a fan of music, food, or just soaking up the community spirit, there’s something for everyone.

Weather Update

Before we dive into the details of the weekend events, let’s take a moment to chat about the weather. Expect a cloudy morning that gives way to partly cloudy skies and some gusty winds in the afternoon. You might want to keep an umbrella handy as there’s a slight chance of a rain shower. The high will be around 73°F with winds blowing in from the northeast at 20 to 30 mph. As night falls, temperatures will drop to a comfortable low of 52°F.

Culinary Delights

The culinary scene is turning up the heat with two major food festivals this weekend! First up, we have the Cookin’ On The Creek BBQ Festival happening at Bay Creek Park in Edisto Island. Kicking off tonight, October 11, from 6-10 p.m., the festival will feature a “Wing Throw Down” along with live entertainment from Cody Webb, a homegrown country singer from Ridge Spring, S.C. On October 12, get ready for a blast as the BBQ tastings begin at 11 a.m., and you can vote for your favorite BBQ dish until 4 p.m.. Family-friendly activities, including a cornhole competition, and live music will fill the air with joy!

Meanwhile, Summerville will be hosting its very own feast, the Summerville Italian Feast. Join the fun on October 13, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Hutchinson Square, where you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine without spending a dime! Savor delicious Italian dishes, sip on Italian wine and beer, and enjoy local talent bringing the entertainment. Get ready to feast and support the Educational Foundation of Dorchester County District II Schools with every bite!

A Toast at the Mimosa Festival

If mimosas are more your style, you won’t want to miss the Charleston Mimosa Festival on October 12 from 1-5 p.m. This bubbly celebration takes place at Johnson Hagood Stadium, The Citadel. Sample various mimosa flavors while snacking on delicious bites from local food vendors, and enjoy live music and a DJ to keep the party atmosphere lively! Tickets are reasonably priced at $55 in advance or $65 on the day, and you’ll get a souvenir cup to take home.

Live Music at Riverfront Revival

Music lovers, mark your calendars! The Riverfront Revival Festival invites you to immerse yourself in a celebration of country music at Riverfront Park on October 11 and 12. Jam out to talented artists like Hootie & the Blowfish, The Revivalists, and Paul Cauthen while enjoying bites inspired by the region’s unique cuisines. Grab your tickets now, ranging from $139-$685, based on the type of day pass you prefer; the festival runs from 5-11 p.m. on Friday and noon-11 p.m. on Saturday.

Support a Good Cause

Lastly, support the community at the Applause for Paws Gala on October 12 starting at 5:30 p.m., celebrating 150 years of service at the Charleston Animal Society. This glamorous event, featuring a “Mission Pawsible” theme, will take place at the Charleston Gaillard Center. Enjoy a gala dinner with live entertainment while contributing to a great cause that aims to better the lives of local animal companions. Tickets are available for $350 each.

So, whether you’re performing culinary explorations or enjoying live music under the stars, make the most of this vibrant weekend in Charleston! Connect with friends, indulge your taste buds, and soak in all the community spirit. You’ll create memories that will last a lifetime!
