The HPD has urged anyone with valuable information about the suspect or the reported break-ins to make a report by calling their office directly at 843-747-5711, and selection option 0.

All information is significant and could potentially assist in the capture of the culprit, leading to an end to the series of car break-ins disturbing the Otranto area. The HPD maintains that the privacy of informants will be protected, and any provided information will be confidential, ensuring the protection of those helping with the case.

Prevention Measures

In response to these incidents, the HPD has also released a set of preventative recommendations for the public to protect their vehicles. They insist that residents should ensure their vehicles are always locked when unattended, and that valuable items are not left within sight in the car, which may entice potential thieves.

The department also promotes the importance of parking in well-lit areas, or in monitored parking lots where available, to deter potential criminal activity. They have also suggested investing in car alarms, and recommending that residents be vigilant about their surroundings particularly during late hours.

As the investigations continue, the public’s awareness has been heightened by the ongoing situation with the assurance that their local Law Enforcement are doing everything in their power to apprehend the suspect and safeguard the Otranto area.
