Veterinary Emergency Group Debuts in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

In a significant expansion move, the Veterinary Emergency Group is inaugurating its run in the Lowcountry, South Carolina with the opening of a new facility in Mount Pleasant. Touted as a hub for all animal emergency needs, the facility is designed to be a help in hand when a pet’s primary veterinarian is unavailable.

Addressing the Veterinary Shortage

The latest addition to the Veterinary Emergency Group’s chain was motivated by the Department of Agriculture’s identification of a veterinary shortage across many South Carolina counties. The Group seeks to address the “high need” areas by making pet emergency services accessible all year round – 24 hours a day, seven days a week on North Highway 17.

Serving as an Extension to Primary Vets

The Veterinary Emergency Group aims to work collaboratively with primary veterinarians to ensure comprehensive and uninterrupted care for pets. Emphasizing a commitment to transparency, the facility is seeking to establish trust-based relationships with pet owners, providing them a constant update and active participation in their pets’ care journey.

Inclusive Services and Facilities

Dr. Alex MacLean, Medical Director for the Veterinary Emergency Group, reveals the facility’s dedication to an open concept that allows pet owners to stay with their pets throughout their entire visit, thereby providing an enhanced level of comfort for both parties. This comprehensive facility is equipped to handle a variety of emergencies, boasting radiology capabilities, surgical rooms, and endoscopy units. They also offer 24/7 in-patient care where pet owners are allowed to stay in the hospital with their pets for the entire duration of their treatment.

Future Growth

The Veterinary Emergency Group is optimistic about its growth prospects in the region. Dr. MacLean shared their intentions to extend their services to the larger South Carolina community, offering their support to pet owners not only in Mount Pleasant, but also the greater Charleston surrounding.

Opening Ceremony

The Local community will have an opportunity to see and experience the new facility at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, scheduled for Thursday at noon. By offering this access to the public, the Veterinary Emergency Group hopes to familiarize the community with their staff, services, and facilities before officially opening for service.

Making a Difference

With the inauguration of its Mount Pleasant location, the Veterinary Emergency Group is bolstering its commitment to provide accessible and top-tier pet emergency care across the state. The new facility represents a significant milestone for the Pet Healthcare Service industry in South Carolina, especially in areas previously listed as high-risk zones on the veterinary shortage map.
