Seabrook’s Talented Tina Mayland Named as SIAG July Artist of the Month
Charleston native and celebrated artist, Tina Mayland, has been announced the Seabrook Island Artist Guild’s (SIAG) artist of the month for July. A grand reception will be held on July 2 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm at The Lake House in her honor, providing guests the opportunity to meet the artistic genius and personally view her mesmerizing works.
A Journey From Tech to Art
What makes Tina Mayland’s journey fascinating is her transition from a high-tech corporate profession to the fine arts. After a successful 30-year career, which included a stint as the VP of Marketing for AT&T in New Jersey, she returned to her hometown. She traded her fast-paced life to pursue a lifelong passion – painting.
Embracing the Lowcountry Charm
Savouring her Lowcountry roots, Tina infuses the distinct charm and beauty of her birthplace into her artwork. She cited her grandparent’s farm on Wadmalaw Island, just outside of Charleston, as a major source of inspiration, capable of stirring nostalgia and delight. “Recapturing the joys of my youth” through art is what motivates this accomplished artist who spent her childhood playing in marshes and galloping on horseback through forested landscapes.
A Pillar of The Artistic Community
Apart from creating enrapturing art, Tina dedicates her time to serve the artistic community. She held a seat on the Board of Directors for the Charleston Artist Guild for four years and presently holds the position of VP of Education for the SIAG, where she has been a member for over 18 years.
Acting in the Broader Interest
Not confining herself to the artistic sphere, Tina continues to make significant contributions to the wider community as well. She served on the National board of the Archeological Institute of America and the Board of Trustees at the revered Middleton Place Foundation.
