Sen. Tim Scott Marries Mindy Noce in Charleston Church Wedding
In Charleston, South Carolina, U.S. Senator Tim Scott tied the knot with Mindy Noce, an interior designer, in an intimate wedding ceremony. The event took place at Seacoast Church on Long Point Road, marking the first wedding of a sitting U.S. senator from the state in over five decades.
For the past 30 years, Sen. Scott, who is a devoted Christian, had prayed for a wife. The long-awaited pledge turned into reality on Aug. 3, as the Senator, aged 58, and his bride, 47, exchanged their vows before close family, friends, and several political figures.
Guest List
Among the attendees were Kevin McCarthy, former Speaker of the House, Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 2-ranking Senate GOP leader, and South Carolina’s Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. Notable guests also included Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma, former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, and former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy.
Pastoral Officiating
The wedding ceremony was officiated by the founding pastor of Seacoast Church, Greg Surratt – a close mentor and long-time friend who was instrumental in counseling Sen. Scott as he considered a 2024 GOP presidential bid. Bennett “Ben” Scott Jr., the senator’s older brother, served as the best man, while Joni Blair, a close friend of the bride from her College of Charleston’s days, was the matron of honor.
Love Story
Noce and Scott started dating in late 2022, a connection forged through a mutual friend at Seacoast Church. Initially, Scott was hesitant about starting a new relationship, but finally agreed to connect with Noce after being coaxed by his friend and getting a closer look at Noce’s photo. The couple’s first phone call turned into an almost two-hour long conversation, concluding with a decision to undertake Bible study together.
Couple’s Public Appearance
Senator Scott, who has broadly kept his private life away from the media’s spotlight, made his relationship with Noce public during his 2024 presidential campaign. The couple’s first public appearance took place beneath the spotlight of the third GOP debate stage in Miami. A few days later, Scott withdrew from the presidential race as his optimistic vision for the GOP failed to capture the public mindshare.
Engagement
Scott proposed to Noce on Jan. 20 on Kiawah Island. He dropped down on one knee under the soft pink hue of the setting sun. Speaking of the relationship, Scott mentioned, “You have to date someone for all four seasons, not just on the calendar, but in life.”
Wedding Ceremony and Future Plans
Following the ceremony, Scott took to social media and declared: “Tonight, we promised to cherish and nourish each other and our marriage for the rest of our lives. Mindy, you’ve made me the happiest man alive. I love you.” He also cited a verse from Matthew 19:6: “So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
The couple plans to honeymoon “out West” and will continue to reside in Charleston post marriage.
