CHARLESTON, S.C. – It’s been quite a week for the Dog & Duck Family Pubs, as two of their popular locations have had to close their doors temporarily. This is quite the buzz in the community, so let’s dive in and see what’s going on!
First up, the Park West location experienced an unexpected interruption thanks to an electrical fire that broke out overnight on Sunday. I know what you’re thinking – that sounds intense, right? Thankfully, the pub had a fire suppression system in place that really stepped up and did its job. However, there is still a lot of damage to contend with. The management team is currently busy assessing the extent of the damage while keeping safety measures top of mind. They promised to keep patrons in the loop about any updates as they figure out their next steps.
Meanwhile, the Dog & Duck Belle Hall has also announced it will be closed until Thursday, October 10. This downtime isn’t because of an emergency; rather, it’s all about construction for a new patio. The pub team wants to prioritize guest safety during the construction process since the workers will be handling heavy equipment and materials. “We don’t want guests around the heavy equipment!” shared the company. When they reopen, patrons can look forward to enjoying some time outdoors in a refreshed patio area, just in time for those beautiful fall evenings.
In a separate but important note, the Dog & Duck team also put a temporary hold on their donations for Hurricane Helene relief efforts. They recognize the continued need for support and have expressed that, “We know they will need more donations in the coming weeks, so we want to regroup and figure out the best way to help our neighbors.” Taking a step back to reassess how to provide assistance to those affected by the hurricane shows their commitment to the community, even amid these challenges.
For those who can’t get enough of the delicious food and drinks, you’re in luck! The Dog & Duck locations at Clements Ferry and Moncks Corner are still open and operating. So, if you’re itching for a bite or a drink, swing by one of those spots and support the family-owned business while you can!
Closing locations, even temporarily, can be tough for any business but even tougher for a community that loves these pubs as local gathering spots. As we wait for the Park West location to recover from the fire and the Belle Hall to finish their patio, let’s keep our spirits high and support the remaining locations. The community spirit is what makes places like this so unique and cherished.
Stay tuned for any further updates from Dog & Duck as they navigate these unexpected situations. Whether you’re heading out to one of the open locations or just sending positive thoughts, remember that our local establishments thrive on our support!
