Crews Subaru Donates $39,112 to Lowcountry Food Bank
In a recent announcement by the Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB), it was revealed that Crews Subaru, a renowned automobile dealer, has contributed $39,112 to aid in feeding the food-insecure residents of Lowcountry. The substantial donation was a part of the annual Share the Love event organized by Crews Subaru as an extension of their commitment towards demonstrating love, respect, and support towards their customers and the communities they inhabit.
Subaru’s Initiative to Alleviate Food Insecurity
Subaru of America’s Love Promise Program, which kicked off in the summer of 2020, embodies the company’s initiative to make a positive impact on the world. As a crucial part of this initiative, Subaru, along with its 634 retailers all over the United States, has been making substantial contributions to various food banks. Since the inception of this programme, Crews Subaru of Charleston alone has donated a whopping $250,000 to LCFB, surpassing a quarter of a million dollars last month.
Apart from financial contributions, Crews Subaru has also organized food drives and arranged for packing food boxes for distribution among the community as a testament to their enduring and supportive partnership with the Lowcountry Food Bank.

Expressing his thoughts on the initiative, Robert Crews, the owner of Crews Subaru, stated, “We believe in making a positive impact in the communities in which we live and work. We know that Lowcountry Food Bank makes a big impact, too, and we are honored to help support their work. We’re grateful for the opportunity, not only to be a part of our community but to serve it as well.”
Food Insecurity in Coastal South Carolina
Over 184,000 residents, making up more than 12% of the population in the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina that LCFB serves, struggle with food insecurity. Among them are more than 50,000 children. The Food Bank continues to address the increased demands for food despite the escalating expenses of procuring food. They also strive to help those seeking food assistance to cope with the high cost of living and the increasing prices of gasoline among other monthly expenditures.
LCFB Expresses Gratitude
In reciprocal acknowledgment, Brenda Shaw, the Chief Development Officer of LCFB, voiced her appreciation saying, “We are thankful to Crews Subaru and Subaru of America for their continued partnership and their work to feed our neighbors who experience food insecurity.” She also added, “We look forward to working with Crews throughout the year to ensure that neighbors have access to healthy food.”
