Stephen Colbert and Wife Evie to Host Event in Charleston

Charleston is set to witness a star-studded event as popular comedian, writer, producer, actor, and TV host Stephen Colbert and his wife Evie McGee-Colbert plan to host an exciting event. The couple is teaming up with the Gaillard Center and Buxton Books for this exclusive affair.

Presenting their New Cookbook

The Colberts will use this platform to discuss and promote their new cookbook, titled “Does This Taste Funny?”. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. on September 22 at the Gaillard Center, where the couple will reveal anecdotes about their cooking experiences and provide snippets from their new book. They will also be conversing with a special guest whose identity is yet to be disclosed.

Origins During Covid Lockdown

The idea for the book stemmed during the Covid-19 lockdown, which often found the couple and their three kids cooking together. “We were all stuck together and couldn’t go out, so we cooked. We had all three kids back under one roof for the first time in a long time, and we had dinner each night as a family. Cooking together became a major source of entertainment”, they recounted.

Cookbook Details

The cookbook entails some of the pair’s favourite recipes whipped up in their South Carolina home kitchen. From party food, seafood, poultry, desserts to drinks – the book covers a wide range of culinary varieties. It is interspersed with engaging dialogues and glossy photographs of their food, family, and home.

Strong Roots in Charleston

Both Colbert and McGee-Colbert have deep roots in Charleston, having spent their formative years in the city, but only met in their mid-20s. They have been active community members, notably contributing to the renovation and revival of Wragg Square downtown.

Event Tickets and Details

Tickets for the event go on sale at 11 a.m. on July 26. Arranged in collaboration with the Gaillard Center, the tickets start at $75 and include a copy of the couple’s new cookbook, offering attendees a sneak peek into the Colberts’ culinary world.

This event is yet another testament to the cultural richness of the city and the active involvement of its citizens in enriching the community vibe. The anticipation for the event and the reception of the “Does This Taste Funny?” cookbook is set to add another exciting chapter in the city’s lively cultural spectrum.
