Smithey Ironware Co. Opens New Headquarters and Distribution Facility in North Charleston
An established producer of American-made, heirloom-quality cast iron and carbon steel cookware, Smithey Ironware Co., has inaugurated its new headquarters and a separate distribution facility in North Charleston. Strategically located at the historical Navy Yard Industrial Campus at 1061 Everglades Drive, the new spaces add on to Smithey’s existing presence in the area.
Distinctive Showroom Space
The new headquarters are housed in a restored officer’s quarters dating back to the 1930s, offering a unique blend of history and modern functionality. A key feature of the headquarters is an all-encompassing showroom set to enthral both locals and visitors. The showroom will showcase Smithey’s diverse range of U.S. made cast iron and carbon steel cookware along with a variety of tools and culinary accessories.
Growth and Expansion
The company has also unveiled an enlarged primary production facility at the Navy Yard. The distinct warehousing and distribution facility signals a robust push for greater operational efficiency and faster distribution times. The expansion underlines Smithey’s commitment to growth and serving its growing customer base with top-notch American made cookware.
Will Copenhaver, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Smithey, reflected this sentiment, stating, “Our new headquarters and showroom are both a nod to our roots here at the Navy Yard and a visual representation of our continued growth trajectory as a leading American cookware company.”
Engaging with the Public
Smithey’s new space is not just for show; it’s an interactive platform for the public. Copenhaver invites people to visit the showroom to get a first-hand experience of their cookware, comprehend their craftsmanship, and hear their unique stories. This initiative is aligned towards providing customers a glimpse of the passion that goes into every Smithey product.
A Story of Passion and Craftsmanship
Smithey Ironware’s expansion resonates with its humble origins. Founder Isaac Morton conceptualized Smithey while restoring vintage ironware in his woodshed. Struck by the smooth surfaces and classic design of these antique pieces, Morton started restoring old cookware and gifting them to his friends and family. It was from this grassroots-level idea that Smithey Ironware was born, which has now grown into a revered brand of American-made cookware.
The opening of the new headquarters and expansion of the primary production facility represents a significant milestone for Smithey Ironware. A nostalgic nod to its origins, the move also signals an ambitious leap towards a future of growth and dominance in the American cookware industry.
