42nd Annual Southeastern Wildlife Expo Concludes

42nd annual Southeastern Wildlife Expo wraps up

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition brought thousands of people to the peninsula for its 42nd year over the weekend. It’s an event that many people from all over, not just Lowcountry residents, look forward to every year. Around 40,000 people attend the three-day event each year, according to SEWE’s website. Those who attended this weekend’s events say the celebration is special because it is one of the biggest events held during this time of year, and it brings thousands of people together from all over. Plus, it has a large impact on the community.

Family Fun and Outdoor Celebrations

“This is the first time we’ve been able to come and bring our kids, just so they can enjoy the atmosphere, the events and see mostly all of the dogs… and jump in the jump castle,” attendee Sarah Mulhern said. From artwork, live music, special events, exhibitors, animals, plus food and beverages, there was something there for everyone to enjoy at SEWE. The weekend-long festivities were spread out across five different locations in the downtown Charleston area: Brittlebank Park, Charleston Marriott, Marion Square, the Gaillard Center and the Charleston Place Hotel. “We love to come to SEWE every year. It’s a great way for our community to get together and really enjoy the outdoors. We obviously love seeing all of the puppies that are out here,” attendee Danielle Bihlear said.

Artists and Exhibitors Share Their Passion

With approximately 500 artists and exhibitors at the event, it was the perfect opportunity for them to share their passion for the outdoors with the community. “There wasn’t a reason why we shouldn’t be here. It was like the perfect fit. It’s awesome to have been able to put it all together and make it happen. We were excited and we’ve had an amazing time here this weekend,” Carolina Marsh Tacky Association President Colin Drew said.

Furry Friends Take Center Stage

It was impossible to miss seeing a four-legged friend at the event. Whether they were competing in one of the competitions or visitors just brought their dogs along with them, you were sure to see one during your time at the event. Some of the events held at SEWE included the Dock Dogs competition, the birds of prey flight demos, and the numerous dog events presented by Purina Pro Plan. These events were not only fun for visitors to watch, but they brought awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife and nature. “I came out today just to experience the community and be out here with everybody and experience what we’re doing to conserve the environment and what everybody is doing. There are a lot of cool exhibits out here, so being able to see all of the different stuff is pretty cool,” participant Harrison Duncan said.

Conclusion

The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, with its 42nd successful year, highlighted the beauty of wildlife, art, and conservation efforts. Attendees from near and far enjoyed a weekend filled with family-friendly activities, outdoor celebrations, and a shared passion for nature. The event not only brought the community together but also raised awareness about the importance of protecting our environment and wildlife. As the curtains close on another successful SEWE, memories of furry friends, breathtaking art, and outdoor adventures will linger, leaving attendees eagerly awaiting next year’s celebration.
