South Carolina Public Radio (SC Public Radio) and the College of Charleston have joined forces to introduce a new partnership program called “Teachable Moments.” This collaboration aims to provide valuable insights for students and parents, covering a wide range of educational topics in a concise and impactful manner.
The one-minute radio segment, Teachable Moments, is designed to address pressing issues such as the use of cellphones in classrooms, homework management, mental health awareness, and childhood obesity. Each episode offers a comprehensive exploration of these topics, providing listeners with practical tips for academic success and promoting overall well-being.
Hosted by Dr. Rénard Harris, an Associate Professor of Management at the College of Charleston, the program seeks to bridge the gap between educators, parents, and students. Dr. Harris, who holds an Ed.D in teacher education, brings a wealth of experience in multicultural education, diversity, equity, and inclusion to the table.
In a statement, SCETV President and CEO Adrienne Fairwell expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the program’s goal of igniting a passion for learning and fostering connections within the community. College of Charleston President Dr. Andrew Hsu also shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the university’s commitment to providing timely and helpful content to SCETV listeners.
Listeners can tune in to Teachable Moments on SC Public Radio every Friday during Morning Edition and All Things Considered to gain valuable perspectives and evidence-based solutions for navigating the challenges of modern education.
