North Charleston, S.C. — A serious collision involving a school bus and another vehicle occurred on Patriot Boulevard early Thursday morning, resulting in multiple injuries.
According to the North Charleston Police Department, three individuals and six children sustained injuries in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle and the two passengers were taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Andrew Pruitt, the Director of Communications for Charleston County schools, confirmed that there were 41 students on the bus when the accident took place. The six injured students were also transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
The North Charleston Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Public Relations Officer Harvey Jacobs stated that the department’s traffic unit is currently analyzing the scene and gathering evidence to better understand the factors that led to this incident.

So far in 2024, there has been one fatal collision, along with 92 injury collisions, and 356 property damage only collisions, totaling 449 collisions overall. These statistics underline the ongoing traffic safety challenges faced in the state, with a total of 194 persons injured this year alone.
