Cougars Continue Dominance in CAA

College of Charleston graduate student Cole Singsank has been named the CAA Player of the Week, marking the third consecutive week a Cougar baseball player has been honored with this prestigious title. Singsank’s recognition follows stellar performances from Cole Mathis and Avery Neaves in the previous weeks. With three pitchers and one rookie also earning recognition from the conference, the Cougars have had a total of seven players commended by the CAA during the 2024 season.

Singsank’s Outstanding Performances

Singsank showcased his power at the plate by going 9-for-17 with an impressive six home runs, 15 RBI, and nine runs scored in a successful 3-1 week for the Cougars. His power surge began with a pair of home runs in a thrilling 10-7 victory over The Citadel on Tuesday, and he carried that momentum into a series win against Northeastern. In the series opener against the Huskies, the designated hitter delivered another two-homer game, setting the tone for an outstanding performance.

Continuing his impressive display, Singsank blasted two more home runs, along with a couple of doubles, seven RBI, and four runs scored in an emphatic 18-5 win in the middle game of the series. Although he was unable to add to his home run tally in the finale, his contributions with an RBI single and a run scored in a crucial six-run eighth inning propelled Charleston to a 6-3 victory and secured their seventh consecutive CAA series win.

Power Surge and Standout Stats

With his recent power surge, Singsank has overtaken the team lead in home runs, now sitting in fifth place in the league with an impressive total of 16. He boasts a batting average of .297, a slugging percentage of .665, and has accumulated 48 RBI, leaving him just one shy of the top spot on the Cougars’ roster. Singsank’s outstanding performances have not only elevated his individual standing but have also played a pivotal role in Charleston’s success on the field.

Upcoming Challenges and Opportunities

As the Cougars gear up for the final week of the regular season, they will face tough competition, including a matchup against No. 11 Duke. With their recent run of form and the exceptional performances from players like Singsank, the Cougars are poised to tackle these challenges head-on and continue their pursuit of success in the CAA.

Domination in the CAA

The College of Charleston baseball team’s recent string of CAA Player of the Week honors is a testament to the talent and dedication of the players and coaching staff. With each player stepping up and delivering stellar performances when it matters most, the Cougars have firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the conference.
