Born in Colleton County, Frank was a proud graduate of St. Paul’s High School. His journey into the working world was marked by a dedication to learning through hands-on experience, especially during his time at Charleston Plywood and Lumber. After honing his skills in the industry, he became the owner of Frank J. Baldwin Construction Company, which stood proudly for over 30 years, delivering homes that were renowned for their quality construction.

In addition to contracting, Frank was also a landlord and a small business owner, contributing to the local economy and providing shelter to many. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply rooted in his faith as a member of Charleston Presbyterian Church. His dedication to his beliefs was evident during his previous tenure as a deacon, where he contributed his time and talents to the Building and Grounds Committee at Ashley River Baptist Church.

Frank was not just a businessman; he embodied the spirit of a true southern gentleman. Described by friends and family as humble, kind, and generous, he was often seen extending hospitality to others, eagerly offering food or sweet tea, a gesture that resonated with the warmth of his character.

As a young man, Frank had a distinct passion for cars, particularly his beloved 1957 Chevy and 1961 Chevy Impala SS. His adventurous spirit led him to partake in drag racing, where he famously shared stories of excitement, including instances of outrunning the law. In a romantic twist, he chose to purchase an engagement ring for his beloved Anita Grooms over the temptation of a shiny new Corvette, showcasing his commitment to love and family.

In his later years, Frank found joy in simple pleasures, such as taking leisurely walks at the Citadel Mall with caregiver friends Fran Jeffries and Laura McBride. His legacy continues through his two cherished children, Franklin J. “Jody” Baldwin, Jr. and Allison B. Williamson, as well as his three loving grandchildren.

Frank is also survived by his sister Jean Kay Baldwin McKnight and sister-in-law Georgia D. Baldwin, while he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Anita Grooms Baldwin, along with several siblings and in-laws.

The community is invited to pay their respects during a graveside service scheduled for January 4, 2025, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Charleston Presbyterian Church or the Faith Forward Restoration Campaign at Ashley River Baptist Church.
