Dr. Kerry Solomon Receives Prestigious AECOS Award

Charleston, South Carolina-based Ophthalmologist Dr. Kerry Solomon, M.D., has been announced as the 2024 recipient of the esteemed Dulaney Award by the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery (AECOS). The voluntary, non-profit organization of ophthalmic surgeons with a mission to elevate vision care and enhance the quality of life for patients through Innovation, Education, and Advocacy administers this award.

The Dulaney Award, now in its 24th year, is bestowed upon ophthalmologists who have made considerable differences within the field of ophthalmology. This entails groundbreaking developments in novel technology and techniques that significantly improve patient outcomes and care.

Currently, Dr. Solomon holds the position of Chief Medical Officer at US Eye, a physician-led network of eye care practices spread across the Southeastern United States. He is also renowned as a LASIK and Laser Cataract Surgeon with Carolina Eyecare Physicians in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Previous Work and Achievements

Formerly the President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), Dr. Solomon is noted for his active role in research and his involvement as an investigator for numerous FDA clinical trials. Accomplishing a world-first, Dr. Solomon was among the inaugural surgeons to conduct laser-assisted cataract surgery and the premier ophthalmologist in South Carolina to execute the all-laser LASIK and topography-guided LASIK.

Adding to his long list of accolades, Dr. Solomon has been consistently honored by Castle Connolly as a Top Doctor and recognized as a Top 250 Innovator by Premier Surgeon Magazine. He also frequently receives the title of “Best Laser Surgeon” from various local community award programs.
