North Charleston Walmart Robbery: Police Hunt Two Suspects

North Charleston Walmart Robbery: Police Hunt Two Suspects

North Charleston, South Carolina is in the grips of an active search conducted by local law enforcement. Authorities are scanning the city for two individuals linked to a recent robbery at the Walmart store at 9880 Dorchester Rd.

Details of the Incident

According to a police report released a day after the incident, authorities were called to the Walmart store around 1:58 pm when they received reports of an active assailant. Upon their arrival, officers witnessed people fleeing from the store, creating confusion over whether a shooting had taken place, or if a firearm was involved. It was later confirmed from dispatch that the situation was a robbery.

Desperate Measures

Witnesses, predominantly employees, reported to the police about a man with a blue face mask, donning a red jacket, a white shirt, and either green or khaki trousers coupled with black sneakers with white laces. This suspect reportedly presented a note to a money services department employee that read, “Me and my crew armed and dangerous. You got less than 2 min to give me the money now.”

Upon receiving the threatening note, the staff member began to open a register to collect cash. However, the assailant, in his impatience, jumped over the counter and started taking as much cash as he could gather himself before fleeing the scene, as per the police report.

Surveillance Footage Reveals Second Suspect

Upon inspection of the surveillance footage, a second individual, presumably the accomplice, was identified by the police. The suspect was dressed entirely in black, sporting a jacket with a white stripe running down the arms, a black face mask, and black and white checkerboard boxers.

Whilst the robbery was in process, this individual was seen heading to the grocery side of the store. According to the police report, this action appears to have been a calculated move to “offset any witnesses or employees that would connect him to the robbery.”

Escaping separately, both men were last spotted running in the direction of KilnseaVillage Apartments. As of now, investigators have chosen not to release any stills obtained from the surveillance footage.

Call for Public Assistance

The North Charleston Police Department has requested help from the public in their ongoing efforts to identify and locate the criminals behind this reckless act. Anyone with information relating to the incident, or anyone who may have observed something associated with the robbery is encouraged to contact the North Charleston Police Tip Line at 843-607-2076 or Crime Stoppers.

As the law enforcement agencies of North Charleston continue their search, residents and businesses are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly.
