In a bid to drive more growth and offer new opportunities for small enterprises, North Charleston has announced a significant shift in its economic strategy. City authorities have decided to ramp up their support for small businesses, identified as the primary drivers of the local economy.
This new focus primarily involves the establishment of a specialized department, named the Small Business Enterprise Department. This endeavor aims to provide small businesses with resources and assistance tools they previously didn’t have access to. It is largely in response to feedback from the local community that such enterprises were being underserved, thus marking a direct effort from the city’s administration to foster better connectivity and support.
The new Small Business Enterprise Department is keen on enhancing the economic potential of the city. With small businesses being described as the city’s backbone, this department will equip them with guidance, financial resources, improved educational programs, and networking opportunities for their growth.
Leading the way in this new department will be Frank Ancrum. He brings to the table his extensive experience and comprehensive understanding of business developed through his own ventures and family ties.
Ancrum acknowledges that developing a small business is often akin to an “emotional roller coaster” that affects not just the business owners but their families as well. This initiative is designed to ensure these businesses have the required connections and support to streamline their progress.
He said, “You have families that are depending on small business creation, you have families depending on whether they’re going to get the check, whether they did this properly.”
Small business owners who are interested in learning more about the opportunities being offered can directly contact the department. They can reach out over the phone by calling 843-740-2540 or via email at fancrum@northcharleston.org for more information.
In a nutshell, the City of North Charleston’s latest initiative directly tackles an area of the economy that has been identified as needing more support. It is a reassuring step forward for those associated with the city’s small business sector and promises more organized growth and development.
