Jacobs further narrated the situation, stating that upon the officer’s attempt to detain the man, he became highly aggressive and a struggle ensued between the two. The man managed to break free from the restraining officer and forcefully entered the Alpha Street home. On entering the house, he was confronted by the homeowner and gunfire erupted between the homeowner and the police officer.
Following the altercation and gunfire, both the individual involved and the police officer were immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention. The suspect who broke into the home sustained gunshot wounds, and the officer incurred physical injuries from the earlier struggle.
As per the standard protocol, The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was notified about the incident and they have assumed charge of the investigation due to the involvement of police-gunfire.
