Mace revealed traumatic experiences, including viewing non-consensual recordings. All accused have denied wrongdoing but an active investigation is underway. Mace also calls for accountability and supports a new victims’ hotline.
In a shocking turn of events that has left many speechless, U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina took to the House floor recently to share shocking accusations against her ex-fiancé, Patrick Bryant, and three other men. This fiery speech, delivered on February 10, 2025, unveiled serious allegations of rape, sexual exploitation, and domestic abuse that she claims have persisted unchallenged.
Mace did not hold back as she described the accused men—Bryant and his associates Eric Bowman, Brian Musgrave, and John Osborne—as “predators” who have allegedly preyed upon multiple vulnerable women, including Mace herself. The Congresswoman revealed that she had come across a staggering figure of over 10,000 videos and explicit images on Bryant’s cellphone, some of which depicted her and other ________ incapacitated women. Unfortunately, some of the videos even included images of underage girls, which adds a chilling layer to her accusations.
During her nearly hour-long address, Mace shared a deeply personal moment where she described watching one of the recordings of herself being filmed without her consent. It was an act that, understandably, left her feeling violated, vulnerable, and betrayed.
As she reflected on her relationship with Bryant, Mace recounted an incident from November 2023, as their relationship came to a tumultuous end, where she claims Bryant physically assaulted her. These are not mere allegations; they are significant claims that have prompted law enforcement to take action. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has confirmed that there is an active investigation into the troubling allegations of assault, voyeurism, and harassment that began back in December 2023.
In the wake of Mace’s allegations, all four men named have strongly denied any wrongdoing and have expressed their intent to pursue legal action. This response adds yet another layer of complexity to the already tense situation, as the quest for truth unfolds.
Mace has made it clear that her speech was not merely a personal recounting of troubling events; rather, she emphasized the need for the victims to be remembered and for the accused to be held accountable for their actions. Her speech also raised eyebrows surrounding the legal avenues through which her accusations were addressed. The South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office refuted Mace’s claims of delayed action, asserting that Wilson had no prior knowledge about the allegations until her speech.
Amidst the allegations, Mace bravely shared her battle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stemming from the abuse she endured during her relationship. Her hardships have forced her to relocate multiple times in an attempt to escape her ex-fiancé, illustrating the pervasive impact of her traumatic experiences. She also acknowledged that her commitment to women’s rights is fueled not only by her own journey but also by her past experiences of sexual assault in her teen years.
To further empower others who may be in similar situations, Mace announced the establishment of a new victims’ hotline. This initiative is aimed at providing support and resources to anyone who may have been affected by the individuals she accused.
It’s worth noting that Mace’s address occurred under the protective umbrella of the Constitution’s speech and debate clause, which offers legal protections for lawmakers when discussing matters on the floor of Congress. By invoking this clause, she made her stand while ensuring a level of safety amid significant revelations, albeit without presenting tangible evidence during her speech.
As events continue to unfold, many are left wondering if this could be a pivotal moment in the fight against sexual violence and a push for victim rights. With congressional members speaking out against abuse and exploitation, a conversation is sparked that many hope will lead to stronger protections for victims everywhere.
