Suspect in 2022 Myrtle Beach Murder Denied Bond, Awaiting Court Dates in October and December

No Bond Set For Suspect in 2022 Myrtle Beach Murder

Suspect Arrested

The tranquility of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was pierced when news broke of the 2022 murder of Penni Whiteside. The main suspect, a 54-year-old male named Sheridan Dirk Fogle, was arrested in relation to the case. Fogle, resident of Orangeburg, was taken into custody on Thursday during an operation in the 1000 block of Austin Street.

Bond Hearing Decision

The court proceedings began on Friday when a judge decided against setting a bond for the accused. The case was referred to the general sessions court with future court dates pointed for October 25 and December 13.

The Horrifying Discovery

The case originates from the uncanny disappearance of Penni Whiteside, who was last seen in the spring of 2022. Her remains were later unearthed in the yard outside her home. The shocking discovery led the police to trace the circumstances under which she disappeared. Further investigations connected Fogle, the inhabitant of the house where Whiteside’s remains were discovered, with her disappearance and subsequent death.

Concerns Raised by Whiteside’s Family and Neighbors

The arrest operation stemmed from the earlier detection of the missing person’s case, which took place on May 11, 2022, in the 600 block of 1st Avenue South in Myrtle Beach. The initial report suggests that Whiteside had been living with the accused. Her brother’s statement to police drew attention to the case. According to the records, her brother had last seen and spoken to her on January 3, 2022. None of the other friends or family members having had any contact with Whiteside after this date led the investigators to believe in a possible foul play.

Confirmation of the tragic reality came from Whiteside’s neighbors who added to the building suspense with their testimonies. Reports highlight that it was based on neighbors’ statements that investigators first speculated Whiteside might be buried near her home. The place of interest was identified as the backyard under a firepit.

Remains Recovered

On June 12, 2022, armed with a search warrant, the police descended on the property. The search led to the discovery of human remains, which were later confirmed to be those of Whiteside. The resolve to untangle the mystery surrounding her unanticipated disappearance ultimately led to the unmasking of a bleak scenario.

As the story unfolds, the city waits with bated breath for the legal proceedings to bring closure to this shocking incident that rocked the foundations of the Myrtle Beach community.
