In Charleston, South Carolina, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has announced its comprehensive New Employee Onboarding program.
As a new member of the MUSC team, employees will be changing what’s possible in healthcare, education, and research sectors. As part of the onboarding process, new hires will be guided by an onboarding assistant who will provide relevant instructions for a smooth start.
New hires are required to accept an offer letter in OurDay (Workday) and then initiate a background check as per the information provided by the onboarding delegate. After accepting the offer, the new employee will be asked to enter their Employee Health Availability in OurDay. After this step is completed, appointments for employee health and employment verification (I-9) will be made according to the preferred dates. This appointment includes a TB test, urine drug test, and a brief physical examination, and requires vaccination records to be provided.
New employees also have to submit a picture for their Badge ID, which must be sent to psaccess@musc.edu, complete with full name, department name, and anticipated orientation date. After completing these steps, the new hires are now ready for orientation.
All new employees are required to join the orientation. Details about the date, time, and location will be provided by the onboarding assistant. New employees are also required to complete orientation modules within OurDay within 14 days of the start date.
New employees will receive an email regarding benefits shortly after starting their job. New hires have 30 days from the start date to enroll in the MUSC retirement plan and 31 days to enroll in insurance.
Apart from insurance, transfers need to maintain the same benefits as their previous employer when joining the MUSC plan. Any changes in benefits can be made during the Open Enrollment period.
New Staff members can also find valuable resources such as various campus maps and general MUSC line information along with social links to stay informed and updated.
MUSC is committed to providing as much assistance and information as they can to ensure a smooth transition for their new employees. With this process, they continue their mission in changing what’s possible in healthcare, education, and research.
