He joins us from Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where he played a crucial role in creating the Patient Flow Operations Center and various services aimed at improving patient care. Initiatives like the orthopedic co-management service, diabetes management service, and hospitalist cardiology service reflect his commitment to innovative and collaborative practices in healthcare.
As the CMO, Dr. Summers will be responsible for optimizing resource use, improving performance, enhancing quality, and overseeing clinical operations. Dr. Summers’s Professional Journey
Dr. Summers earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at East Carolina University Health. His experience includes certifications from several reputable bodies such as the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. Well-respected in the medical community, Dr. Summers is also a member of the Chief Medical Officers Group Steering Committee for the Association of American Medical Colleges, emphasizing his dedication to advancing healthcare practices.
