Mount Pleasant Gears Up for a Day of Family Fun!

Mount Pleasant, S.C. is buzzing with excitement as families prepare for the 37th Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Children’s Day Festival. On Sunday, Oct. 20, from noon to 5 p.m., the Park West Recreation Complex will transform into a lively hub of entertainment and joy.

A Day Packed with Activities

This festival promises to be a spectacular event, featuring an array of activities that cater to children of all ages. You can expect free admission and a multitude of activities that make for a perfect autumn day out with the family. There will be giant inflatables, exciting games, delightful rides, and the ever-popular face painting. Kids can also enjoy pony rides, win some fabulous prizes, and interact with adorable animals at the petting zoo.

Getting There Made Easy

Parking won’t be an issue as complimentary parking is available at the nearby schools on Thomas Cario Blvd.. Plus, to make things even easier, free shuttles will be running throughout the event, so families can hop on and off as they explore the festival.

Special Performances and Entertainment

As you wander through the festival, get ready to be entertained! Local dance and gymnastics academies, karate schools, and cheerleading squads will be showing off their talents through a variety of special performances. Be sure to catch the unique acts featuring unicyclist and juggler Mark Lippard, along with the musical stylings of Rick Hubbard, known as the King of Kazoo.

Favorite Attractions Return

Returning favorites are also on the agenda! Kids can challenge themselves at the Mount Pleasant Waterworks’ annual obstacle course, check out the impressive fire trucks from the Mount Pleasant Fire Department, and even get an up-close look at heavy equipment from Public Services. Don’t forget to visit the Mount Pleasant Police Department’s community outreach team for some friendly interactions.

Community Spirit Shines Bright

Nicole Harvey, the Community Affairs and Marketing Division Chief for the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department, says, “Children’s Day offers families the perfect opportunity to get outside and celebrate the arrival of our beautiful fall weather.” This community event is made possible thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, schools, and non-profits which help to provide old-fashioned carnival games and delicious food from local vendors.

Important Reminders

A couple of important reminders for festival-goers: for the safety of everyone, animals, bicycles, and skateboards are not permitted on the festival grounds. Food lovers will also find plenty of tasty options with local vendors and food trucks serving up delicious treats.
