April 10, 2024 – Georgia native, Michael Herren, has brought his significant management expertise and in-depth knowledge of the construction industry to Berenyi, Inc., where he oversees the development and culmination of the firm’s Savannah-based projects.
With nearly a decade of experience in the Savannah industry, Herren has been instrumental to the city’s industrial growth. He is now charged with leading the growth of Berenyi’s satellite office, signaling an expansion of the firm’s footprint further south toward Savannah.
“With our expansion into Savannah, we were on the lookout for a project manager who not only has industry experience, but is also attuned to the intricacies of doing business in Georgia,” said Berenyi’s managing partner, Jordan Behringer. “Michael fits this description perfectly, bringing both the requisite experience and dynamic energy that this industry and our team demand.”
Herren, a 2018 graduate of Georgia Southern University, cultivated his interest in construction management while studying for his degree. To gain industry experience, he undertook internships with various companies like the Georgia State Finance and Investment Commission (GSFIC). He contributed to commercial project work at Lavender & Associates and honed his skills at J.E. Dunn by servicing the healthcare, higher education, and hospitality industries. Ultimately, this culminated in his appointment to the J.E. Dunn’s Savannah office.
“It dawned upon me while in college that construction is critical to economic growth. That’s when I realized that my passion could actually shape my career,” confessed Herren.
Before his stint with Berenyi, Herren was a project manager for Evans General Contractors, where he was involved with end-to-end fulfillment focusing on tilt-up industrial building projects. When he caught wind of Berenyi and their expertise in heavy industrial design-build including tilt-up construction, he seized the opportunity to join them and provide clients with cost-effective, efficient solutions.
“Handling industrial construction is what drives a port city’s operational infrastructure,” Herren expressed. “Savannah has seen incredible growth in industry-demand in recent years and I’m excited to be a part of Berenyi as it seeks to tap into this market. I am thrilled with the partnership, culture, and competitive edge we can bring to this city.”
Established in 1989, Berenyi has been a key player in South Carolina’s industrial growth. Using design-build projects, it has partnered with both regional and global manufacturers, including Boeing, Mercedes and Symrise. With headquarters located by the banks of Charleston’s Cooper River and a satellite office in Savannah, GA, Berenyi is well-suited to meet the needs of clients extending beyond the Lowcountry.
