Mercedes-Benz Charleston Donates Vehicle to Charleston College Athletics

Mercedes-Benz of Charleston has generously donated a sprinter van to the College of Charleston’s athletic department, enhancing the college’s sports programs and community outreach efforts.

Enhancing Athletic Travel and Community Engagement

The sprinter van will primarily serve the men’s and women’s golf teams, providing them with reliable transportation to tournaments. In addition to sports travel, the college plans to utilize the van for various community outreach projects, further strengthening its ties with the local community.

A Perfect Partnership with College of Charleston

Axel Bense, the chief executive officer and president of Mercedes-Benz of Charleston, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting the College of Charleston, stating, “For us, as a considerable factory and employer, we want to also be a part of the community. I live in Charleston, so I’m happy to feel like I’m doing something for the community. I’m personally a fan of basketball. I’ve watched a lot of their games already, so I’m happy to help.”

Community-Focused Initiatives

Some of the upcoming events that the college plans to transport students to in the new van include days of service, oyster restoration day, and activities with Lowcountry Orphan Relief. The donation of the vehicle will enable the college to broaden its reach and impact within the Charleston community.
