MarineMax Charleston Proposes Showroom Expansion on Sportsman Island
MarineMax, a renowned boat dealership, is revving up its presence on Sportsman Island. Currently located at 152 Sportsman Island Drive, MarineMax Charleston plans to enhance its suite of services with a larger, state-of-the-art showroom. According to Courtney Guice, Administrative Vice President of Scout Boats, the expanded facility by MarineMax will house a dedicated sales office and a showroom. The plan also includes a brand-new boat and RV storage facility. These strategic developments mark MarineMax’s dedication to providing a diverse range of boats and yachts, boating educational programs, and leisure options for boaters. By featuring and selling premium boating brands, this showroom will serve as a one-stop destination for customers’ boating needs.
“This facility is being built for MarineMax as a dedicated sales office and showroom, so they will move ‘next door’ when construction is complete,” says Guice. MarineMax’s aspiration is to integrate seamlessly with the existing Sportsman Island boating community and contribute to its vibrant boat culture.
The Vision and Timeline
Steve Potts, the CEO and founder of Scout Boats, shares Guice’s aspiration. He envisions a “high-end, build-to-suit showroom dedicated to MarineMax.” Currently, the project is in the permitting process and TRC review stage. If permitting allows, the aim is to break ground in May or June.
Kellum Engineering, in cooperation with Trident Construction, the general contractor for the project, is pushing forward with the project’s progress. Guice shares their optimism about the timetable, stating: “We hope to complete this project in the first quarter of 2025.” Should this timeline hold, the showroom might open its doors to the public this time next year.
