Kevin Madden made his only season at College of Charleston a successful one with the third baseman earning second team All-American honors from the College Baseball Foundation. Madden joined the Cougars after stints at Virginia Tech and South Carolina and played a large part in Charleston posting a record of 41-14 and winning the CAA regular season championship. He played and started 54 times and was selected to the all-conference first team.
Madden batted .320 and tied for the team lead with 70 hits including 14 doubles and 13 home runs. He scored 53 runs and drove in 48 and led the Cougars with seven three-hit games with one coming against Towson when he singled, doubled and homered and knocked in five. His biggest moment of the season came against Northeastern when his eighth inning grand slam capped a six-run rally in a 6-3 victory over the Huskies. Madden began the campaign with a 12-game hitting streak and added a 10-game run to conclude the regular season.
Madden’s outstanding performance on the field has earned him well-deserved recognition as a key player in College of Charleston’s successful season. His contributions were instrumental in the team’s accomplishments, including their conference championship win.
