Exciting Developments in Charleston as Hospitality Scene Expands

Hey there, Charleston! It’s a sunny day here with highs reaching a warm 73°F and a pleasant light breeze from the west-southwest. Perfect weather to get out and explore our lovely city, especially with all the buzzing updates in the hospitality industry!

Kimpton Hotel Project Moves Forward

Let’s dive into some exciting news about a big project in the works! The proposed 10-story Kimpton hotel at the Morrison Yard development has taken a step forward after earning the green light from the Charleston’s Board of Architectural Review over the summer. Just last week, on November 21, the project was back in front of city staffers to sort out some remaining details. This hotel will feature a whopping 250 rooms and is part of a broader mixed-use space that’s likely to add even more vibrancy to the area.

But that’s not all! The city is considering two more hotels in the lovely upper peninsula area. One proposal is for an 8,500-square-foot structure at 54 Line St., right across from the former headquarters of the local newspaper. This spot is trendy and bustling, making it a perfect place for a new hotel venture. There’s talk of an additional hotel near 657 King St., expected to feature 27 rooms as well. The community is truly abuzz with excitement about these new additions!

Charleston on the Travel Map

In other fantastic news, our beautiful Charleston has made it onto Travel + Leisure’s latest list of the 50 Best Places to Travel in 2025. After a remarkable 12-year streak as the “Best U.S. City”, it’s hardly a surprise that the Holy City is now recognized once again. This time, the publication applauded Charleston for its cultural immersion along with a growing array of hospitality options.

The much-anticipated The Cooper luxury hotel is set to open next to Waterfront Park next year, and let’s not forget about the newly opened The Dunlin resort on Johns Island. Charleston is bustling, and it’s proving to be a major hotspot for visitors looking for unique and memorable experiences.

Holiday Cheer from Palmetto Carriage Works

Toys for Tots for a heartwarming initiative. On December 1, anyone who brings an unwrapped toy will receive a free carriage ride through the charming streets of Charleston!

Tommy Doyle, the general manager, expressed his excitement about this partnership, saying it’s a way to “brighten the holidays” for kids and families in the area. This offer is on a first-come, first-served basis, so mark your calendars and prepare to spread some holiday cheer!

What’s Next for Charleston?

With all these developments on the horizon, Charleston is definitely an exciting place to be right now. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, there’s never been a better time to explore what the city has to offer. From luxurious hotels to charming rides through the historic streets, Charleston is set to welcome new guests and create lasting memories!

Stay tuned for more updates as our beautiful city continues to evolve and grow. With so much happening, there’s always something to look forward to in this enchanting part of the world!
