North Charleston Police Investigate Attempted Shooting on Ashley Phosphate Road

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – No arrests have been made following a shooting incident in the early hours of Sunday morning on Ashley Phosphate Road in North Charleston. Local police responded to the reports of shots fired at a vehicle around 1:45 am in the 2200 block of the busy roadway.

Overcoming an Altercation

The victim informed officers that he had previously had a dispute with the alleged gunman over a woman. Both individuals happened to be in the same location when words were exchanged, escalating the tension. When the victim attempted to leave the scene in his vehicle, the purported gunman fired a series of shots from his own vehicle towards the former’s car before fleeing the scene.

Police Investigation and Evidence

An incident report provided by North Charleston Police states that a bullet had entered through the driver’s side window and exited through the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle. Officers on the scene recovered two shell casings and are making efforts to obtain surveillance footage from a nearby store to support the on-going investigation. At this time, no physical injuries resulted from the incident.

The police have not yet disclosed the name of the individual identified by the victim to be responsible for the attempted shooting.
