In the wake of *Hurricane Helene* devastating communities in the Upstate and North Carolina, the City of Charleston is stepping up in a big way to lend a helping hand. Folks here are no strangers to hurricanes, and our *first responders*, being the dedicated professionals they are, are mobilizing to assist those in need.
The *Charleston Fire Department* is leading the charge by sending 16 brave firefighters equipped with all the necessary rescue equipment and specialized vehicles over to Greenville County. Their objective? To help out with crucial search and rescue efforts. It’s a commendable move that showcases the professionalism and commitment of our firefighters.
Meanwhile, the *Charleston Police Department* is also on the move. They will be dispatching 36 officers to Henderson and Buncombe counties. This operation is set to unfold in two phases from October 7 until October 17. The officers will be assisting with various recovery efforts, which include providing security at distribution centers, performing fuel escorts, and ensuring public safety around important infrastructure. With their experience and training, these officers will play a vital role in the restoration of normalcy for affected communities.
