Charleston is buzzing with excitement as the holiday season kicks off, and no one is more in the spotlight than our very own event designer! This College of Charleston graduate isn’t just known for his remarkable skills developed through his work with Spoleto Festival USA; he is also making waves with his bespoke wedding and event production business that he launched in 2017. His flair for creativity has made him one of Charleston’s most sought-after designers, blending tradition with a cosmopolitan twist!
Just when you thought he couldn’t get any busier, this summer, he unveiled his stunning downtown boutique, Wentworth. This unique shop offers a curated collection of exquisite new, vintage, antique, and handcrafted items for the home. If you’re planning a trip downtown, make sure to stop by and be inspired! And don’t miss his upcoming dramatic holiday window display featuring draped brown velvet, festive garlands, and large bronze stags that will leave you in awe!
So how does this talented designer celebrate the season? According to him, entertaining friends at home is always on the agenda. He loves to whip up a delicious batch of eggnog and keep the atmosphere casual with cocktails and hearty hors d’oeuvres that let guests mingle freely.
“It allows guests to move around and eat as much as they wish—and not feel like Santa when they leave!” he says with a chuckle. For decor, he likes to cover the dining table with an array of branches, vibrant bowls of citrus, and plenty of Champagne buckets from Hôtel silver, ensuring effortless pouring throughout the evening!
When it comes to home decor, none can compete with Wentworth! But our design maestro also enjoys shopping at other local favorites. Antiques of South Windermere, 17 South, and Elizabeth Stuart are among his go-to spots. He particularly loves picking up paperwhites there for a touch of holiday magic!
Need host or hostess gift ideas this season? Look no further! He’s got you covered with a stunning selection of tall taper candles from Denmark, available in an impressive 53 colors. Pair these beauties with a chic box of matches and some stylish candle holders, and you’ll be the star gift-giver at any gathering!
As we bid farewell to the year, this fabulous designer has big plans for New Year’s Eve! He’ll be producing a chic wedding at the historic Swan House in Atlanta, and he’s set to dazzle in a classic black tux by Todd Snyder. Sounds like a magical night!
For those who might be hosting family or friends, here’s his golden nugget of advice: “Keep it simple, don’t overthink it!” He suggests keeping chocolate-dipped citrus on hand for a delightful bite alongside a spicy nut mix and, of course, a well-stocked bar. Simple yet elegant, just how we like it!
As the holiday spirit fills the air, remember to check out the upcoming pop-up shop at his office on Queen Street from November 25 to December 23. The vibrant energy of Charleston is truly magical this time of year, and with these tips and tricks from one of our talented local designers, you’re sure to spread cheer! So, let the celebrations begin!
