On October 8th, around 2 p.m., responders from the Charleston Police Department and animal control officers responded to a heart-wrenching report of a dog in distress on the West Ashley Greenway.

A Disturbing Scene

Upon reaching the Greenway, the officers discovered a black and tan Rottweiler just tied to a tree. This poor pup was left without food or water, which is unimaginable! Even worse, the dog had multiple wounds across its face, neck, ears, and legs. It was a situation that no one would like to witness, and thankfully, the officers acted quickly to provide the necessary care.

Surveillance Footage Offers Clues

To aid in their investigation, police obtained surveillance footage that captured the two people who abandoned the dog. This crucial information shows them tying the dog to the tree before nonchalantly walking away toward Playground Road. The authorities believe that someone in the community might recognize them and are urging anyone with information to step forward.

A Happy Ending for the Rottweiler

After the horrifying ordeal, the brave Rottweiler received treatment from the Charleston Animal Society. Thanks to their devoted staff and caring volunteers, the dog has made a remarkable recovery and was fortunate enough to find a loving new home very recently!
