Residents and commuters in Richland County, S.C. can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as the long-awaited widening project of Hardscrabble Road inches closer to its completion. Launched back in 2017, this endeavor has faced a series of challenges but is now moving towards its final stages with an anticipated wrap-up by Summer 2025.

Temporary Night Closures in Effect

As part of the ongoing construction, Hardscrabble Road has been subject to a temporary closure at the intersection of Clemson Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. This closure, which began on January 26, is expected to last two nights, concluding on January 28. For those affected by this disruption, traffic is being diverted along Clemson Road, Longtown Road, and Lee Road, to help ease congestion that results from the construction.

Upcoming Closures Scheduled

February 9, lasting until the morning of February 11. These temporary night closures will again run from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and will reroute traffic utilizing North Brickyard Road, Farrow Road, Longtown Road, and Clemson Road.

Progress Update

five miles leading up to the segment near Clemson Road had already been finished. Motorists are eagerly awaiting the completion, as the construction has significantly impacted daily commute patterns.
