In Goose Creek, South Carolina, an alarming event took place wherein one man was apprehended after a high-speed chase escalated to gunfire. The Goose Creek Police Department reported that two individuals have been arrested in relation to the incident.
Keith Jerome Galloway is being accused of ignoring police orders to stop, compounded by charges of possession with an intent to distribute methamphetamines and the possession of a controlled substance. The charge came after officers attempted to pull a vehicle over near the intersection of North Main Street and 2nd Avenue, around 11 p.m. on a recent Saturday night. The initial cause for authorities wanting to stop the vehicle was due to a faulty tag light and the driver’s disregard for a traffic signal.
However, the vehicle did not stop on cue, resulting in a high-speed chase across the streets of Goose Creek. The situation then took a more dangerous turn as around five shots were fired from the vehicle in the direction of the pursuing officer. The chase eventually came to an end when the pursued car crashed into a residence on Mulberry Drive.
Following the crash, the driver, who was later identified as Galloway, fled the scene on foot. However, a woman named Tabitha Lynn Scott, who is believed to have been a passenger in the car, was found near the crash site and apprehended. Goose Creek Police utilized officers and a K-9 to track down and apprehend Galloway in the vicinity.
Authorities reported finding a handgun on the driver’s side of the vehicle, bolstering the case against Galloway. Galloway and Scott have since been remanded in the Berkeley County Detention Center, although Scott’s charges have not been officially detailed. No booking photograph was immediately provided for Galloway in the wake of the incident. The authorities involved stated that additional charges against Galloway are expected to follow, hinting at the severity and complexity of the incident.
While investigations remain underway, substantial details about the incident and the individuals involved remain scarce. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that law enforcement officers face while trying to maintain public safety. The Goose Creek Police expressed their commitment to pursuing a thorough investigation into the matter and levying appropriate charges against those involved.
Further details and developments concerning the case are expected to emerge in due course as investigations go underway. The police will continue their work diligently to ensure justice is served to the fullest extent and to prevent such dangerous and reckless incidents from recurring within the community.
