Free Meals and Community Support: Cava’s Grand Opening in West Ashley

West Ashley is buzzing with excitement as Cava gears up for the opening of its newest location right on Savannah Highway. To celebrate, the restaurant is rolling out a special treat for the community: free meals on September 19! Yes, you read that right! This is just a day before the official opening, and it’s a fantastic way for Cava to welcome locals and give back.

Feeding the Community One Bowl at a Time

From 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., anyone can come in and enjoy a meal on the house from Cava’s extensive Mediterranean-inspired menu. Think delicious bowls, fresh grains, and tasty pitas that are sure to tantalize your taste buds! Options include favorites like the spicy chicken and avocado pita, the flavorful steak mezze grain bowl, and the refreshing tahini Caesar salad.

The icing on the cake? While the meals are completely free, Cava will have representatives from the Lowcountry Food Bank on site for those who would like to contribute. The restaurant has committed to match donations up to $1,000. Sarah Seale, a public relations specialist for Cava, explained that this initiative is all about connecting with the community and raising awareness about food insecurity that many face.

Bringing Tradition to Life

The four co-founders of Cava, who have known each other since childhood, didn’t just want to open another restaurant; they aimed to create a place that honors their Mediterranean heritage while providing delicious, healthy food in a casual setting. Since launching in 2010, Cava has not only expanded its menu but also built a tradition of giving back. This initiative, known as Community Day, first began in 2019 and has since helped raise over $500,000 for about 60 nonprofits across the nation.

Understanding Food Insecurity

Brenda Shaw, chief development officer for the Lowcountry Food Bank, highlighted the importance of partnerships like this one. She noted how such events help shed light on the daily challenges faced by individuals experiencing food insecurity. “Inflationary pressures can create barriers to living our best lives,” she stated, emphasizing that this effort by Cava is instrumental in fulfilling the mission of ensuring the community has consistent access to nutritious food.

New Location, Same Commitment

The new restaurant at 1149 Savannah Highway is Cava’s 12th location in South Carolina and the second in the Charleston area, following the Mount Pleasant location that opened in 2022. The venue is part of the newly completed West Ashley Station, which also features Whole Foods as an anchor tenant. Cava has quickly made a name for itself across 25 states and the District of Columbia, bringing its fresh take on Mediterranean cuisine to countless communities.

A Warm Welcome Awaits

As the grand opening approaches, the team at Cava is eager to meet the West Ashley community. With the chance to enjoy a delicious, free meal while supporting a vital cause, there’s no better time to experience what Cava is all about. So mark your calendars for September 19 and don’t forget to swing by for a taste of their incredible offerings. Remember, whether you choose to donate or not, everyone is welcome to enjoy a meal!

Join the fun, enjoy some fantastic food, and support the Lowcountry Food Bank—West Ashley is in for a real treat!
