CHARLESTON – There was an air of excitement in the community on Saturday, December 7, as families came together for a heartwarming event that was all about giving back. J&J Outreach, led by local Charleston residents, Jermaine Seabrooks and Jamie Brown, hosted a “Free Bikes/Scooters Giveaway” at the St. Lawrence Community Center, conveniently located on Highway 521 in Salters. The event was aimed at creating smiles on children’s faces and promoting community spirit, and boy, did they deliver!
As families arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with joy and laughter. Parents and kids alike were treated not only to free bikes and scooters but also received gift certificates from Walmart to make their holiday shopping a little merrier. Jermaine and Jamie, both proud members of Long Shoreman Local 1422 and 1422A in Charleston, understood just how much these gestures meant to families in the Williamsburg communities.
But the fun didn’t stop at just giveaways. Attendees were amused with a variety of games that kept both kids and adults entertained. The sound of music filled the air, setting a festive tone while delicious food added to the charm of the day. It was indeed a celebration all around!
Seabrooks and Brown emphasized the importance of giving back, especially during the holiday season. “We wanted to do something special for the children in our communities because we know how much excitement rides can bring to their faces,” Jermaine expressed. Jamie added, “Events like this help strengthen our community bonds and remind everyone that we are here for one another.”
And strengthen those bonds, they did! Families left with not only their new bikes and scooters but also with a deeper sense of connection to their neighbors. The event showcased what can happen when community members come together for a good cause, and it was clear that people cherished this unique gathering.
If you missed out on this splendid day but still want to be part of the good work in the community, there’s hope! J&J Outreach plans to make this a recurring event. Jermaine and Jamie are eager for more contributions and help for next year’s giveaway. If you feel inspired to join in, you can reach out to Jermaine Seabrooks at (843) 419-0343 or Jamie Brown at (843) 532-3781. Every little bit helps in making the next event even better!
As we wrap up, let’s send a warm round of applause to Jermaine and Jamie, whose dedication to their community shines brightly. It was a phenomenal day filled with joy, laughter, and the beautiful spirit of giving. Charleston, here’s to more events that bring us together and remind us that we are a family.
Stay tuned for more community events and ways to get involved. There’s always something exciting happening in Charleston!
