Skittles, a 7-year-old tabby cat residing on the 300 block of West Hudson Avenue, was found by its owner enduing a ‘haphazard shaving mark and a laceration.’ Following a visit to the veterinarian, a deeper gash on the cat’s inside thigh was discovered, requiring immediate medical attention, including stitches.

Pet Helpers Call for Increased Awareness and Action

Following this incident, Pet Helpers, a local community nonprofit and animal care organization, called for heightened vigilance around the neighborhood. The nonprofit suspects that the incident might be a deliberate act of animal cruelty. Suspecting this is a targeted cruel act, they have now provided a reward of $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for this heartbreaking incident.

Carol Linville, founder of Pet Helpers, expressed her deep worry about the malicious act and emphasized the importance of pets in our community.
“This incident is deeply troubling. Our pets are beloved members of our families, and such acts will not be tolerated in our community,” Linville stated.
