Massachusetts Father Commits Suicide During Family Vacation in Hilton Head

Massachusetts Father Dies by Suicide During Family Vacation in Hilton Head

Date: Aug 27, 2024.

Details about Stanley Kotowski’s Death

Stanley Kotowski, a 60-year-old father from Massachusetts, was found dead during a family vacation on Hilton Head Island. The cause of death has now been officially confirmed as suicide by authorities. Stanley reportedly hanged himself underneath a home near his rental accommodation. Officials estimate that the date of his death corresponds with the day he mysteriously went missing.

Investigation Into the Incident

While police officials haven’t delved into specific details regarding Stanley’s death, it has been revealed that he used an apparatus to cut off oxygen flow. This form of death confirms asphyxiation. Though the exact nature of the apparatus hasn’t been shared, it has been firmly stated that the term hanging does not necessarily imply a rope, tied to a ceiling and a drop from a height.

The Search and Discovery

Officials have revealed that the search for Stanley was extensive and involved the usage of canines, drones, and door-to-door inquiries. It took 11 days before Stanley Kotowski was finally discovered. Reports suggest that Stanley discovered a small hatch near an outdoor shower that served as an access point to a crawl space at a neighboring villa. The search and rescue teams attempted to enter the crawl space during their search but had limitations. Stanley was eventually found near the Sea Pines rental, where he was vacationing with his family.

Stanley Kotowski’s Struggles Before His Death

Stanley had been suffering from severe insomnia and increasing anxiety prior to his death. He had even sought medical help both before and during his vacation. His wife, Jackie, shared on social media that Stanley developed paranoia, thinking he was being pursued by people, including the authorities. He was also anxiously fearful of the ocean due to various factors such as exposure to the sun, jellyfish, and sharks.
