Exciting Hotel Developments in North Charleston

North Charleston is buzzing with excitement as two new hotels are set to open next year! With their prime locations near the Tanger Outlets, both will offer visitors a fresh and convenient place to stay while enjoying the rich culture and charm of this beautiful city.

Drury Plaza Hotel on the Rise

First up is the Drury Plaza Hotel, which is currently under construction at 2934 W. Montague Ave.. This impressive eight-story hotel will feature 252 spacious rooms and is aiming to welcome its first guests by July 2025. This will mark the second Drury hotel in South Carolina, following the successful establishment in Greenville back in 2007.

Situated just off Interstate 26, the Drury Plaza Hotel will be ideally located for easy access to a myriad of attractions, including the Charleston Area Convention Center, North Charleston Coliseum, and of course, Charleston International Airport. Chuck Drury, CEO of Drury Hotels, expressed his enthusiasm for the new location, highlighting that Charleston is a vibrant city brimming with history, culture, and southern hospitality. All these elements appeal to both leisure and business travelers alike.

Guests will be pleased to find that the hotel includes 3,600 square feet of meeting space capable of accommodating up to 400 attendees. This will certainly make it an attractive option for businesses looking to host events. Plus, the property will feature a casual dining restaurant, an outdoor pool and spa, fitness and business centers, and a complimentary breakfast to kick start the day. And for those interested in joining the team, the hotel expects to hire around 70 full- and part-time employees.

Element by Marriott Charleston Airport

Not too far away, another exciting project is underway: the Element by Marriott Charleston Airport. This four-story hotel, located at 4865 N. Arco Lane, will offer 123 rooms and is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2025. With a focus on extended stays, the Element hotel promises a range of amenities, including a restaurant, a 24/7 fitness center, and a unique outdoor saline pool. It will also offer meeting space for guests needing to conduct business during their stay.

Greenville-based Arco Lane Hospitality nabbed the property for about $3.5 million in 2022, significantly higher than its previous selling price back in 2018. The leadership at Contender Development, which partners with Arco Lane, is eagerly looking forward to bringing the Element brand to Charleston. With its central location near the airport, they see it as a fantastic opportunity to capture the attention of travelers.

Hospitality America has been tasked with managing the hotel. CEO Ben Campbell noted that Charleston’s stellar reputation—as recognized by esteemed publications—has made it a desirable spot for travelers, paving the way for brands like Element to thrive. He added that the popularity of extended-stay hotels is on the rise, as they tend to offer better value and convenience compared to select-service hotels, catering to a niche within the travel industry.

Looking Ahead

Both hotels are set to contribute significantly to the hospitality scene in North Charleston, making it an exciting time for visitors and residents alike. As the area continues to grow and attract tourists, it’s clear that developments like these will play a vital role in shaping the experience that Charleston offers. With hotel openings on the horizon, the city is poised to welcome even more visitors eager to explore everything it has to offer!

So, mark your calendars for July 2025 and beyond. North Charleston is ready to greet you with open arms and new places to stay!
