Exciting Hotel Developments Set to Transform Charleston’s Hospitality Scene

Exciting Developments Coming to Charleston!

Hey there, Charleston! It’s an exciting time for our beautiful city, especially for those who love exploring new places to stay. Grab your coffee and settle in, as we dive into some hot news about hospitality developments sprouting up right in our backyard.

First on the horizon is the much-anticipated Thompson by Hyatt, a brand-new, chic hotel set to grace Morrison Drive and Meeting Street. This isn’t just any hotel; its striking design has earned it the nickname “Charleston’s Flatiron Building,” inspired by the famous landmark in New York City. The team at TMGOC Ventures, which includes local talent from The Montford Group and Florida’s Opterra Capital, is gearing up to break ground in the first quarter of next year—great news for anyone who has been eager to see this project come to life.

A Closer Look at the Thompson

The Thompson is going to be a wedge-shaped beauty featuring 191 rooms, all designed to redefine our city’s hospitality scene. How cool is that?

Sunju Patel, the hospitality developer behind this intriguing project, shared that it has been a labor of love for the past six years. Patel scooped up the lot back in March 2019 for a tidy sum of $2.15 million, and he can hardly wait to show off the hotel’s modern yet sophisticated designs that promise an exceptional food and beverage program. It’s clear that they are aiming to create not just a place to stay but an experience to remember.

Goodbye Alley, Hello Lowline Hotel

Lowline Hotel. This eight-story wonder will include 175 rooms and is already moving through the approval stages. With restaurant space on the first floor, underground parking, and even a rooftop dining area, this hotel is set to be a hit! Talk about elevating the hospitality game!

Although The Alley has closed its doors after a fun twelve-year run, excitement is brewin’ as plans are underway to finalize the necessary approvals from the Board of Architectural Reviews—hitting the ground running as soon as January!

Looking Forward

We can’t wait to see how these developments shape Charleston’s landscape. Who’s going to be the first to check into the Thompson by Hyatt? Will anyone have a cocktail on the rooftop of the Lowline Hotel while gazing at the sunset? Only time will tell! Stay tuned for more updates on these projects, and let’s embrace the changes heading our way!

Until next time, happy adventuring and keep those umbrellas handy just in case!
