Excitement is in the air as Charleston prepares to celebrate the grand opening of Estelle Colored Glass‘s very first retail location inside the luxurious The Charleston Place Hotel on Friday, February 14. This marks a significant moment for the Charleston-based luxury brand, which specializes in stunning hand-blown colored glassware, inspired by founder Stephanie Hall’s cherished memories of treasure hunting with her grandmother, Estelle, in Holly Hill, S.C.
Founded in 2019, Estelle Colored Glass has quickly made a name for itself in the world of home décor. Hall, who has a background in law and previously operated an event rental company, saw an opportunity to bring back the charm of vintage colored glass, which she felt was becoming a “dying art.” After five years of meticulous research, she partnered with skilled artisans in Poland, ensuring that each piece is crafted with care and precision.
The new retail space spans an impressive 1,200 square feet and promises to be a feast for the eyes. Guests can expect to explore Estelle’s signature collection, featuring beautiful decanters, elegant wineglasses, and eye-catching cake stands. A highlight of the store is a permanent mocktail bar where customers can test out their newly purchased glassware with delicious non-alcoholic drinks, making for a delightful shopping experience.
But that’s not all! The retail location also boasts a community table showcasing Hall’s seasonal tablescapes. This interactive element invites customers to feel inspired about how to use their new glassware at home, making every visit a creative experience. It’s a place where customers can connect, share ideas, and indulge in their love for beautiful home accents.
To add to the excitement of the grand opening, shoppers who purchase glassware during the opening weekend will receive an $85 gift card for their next visit—an offer that encourages customers to return and explore even more of Estelle’s exquisite offerings.
Estelle Colored Glass experienced rapid growth following its launch, quickly transitioning from direct-to-consumer sales to wholesale, attracting attention from major retailers such as West Elm and Anthropologie. However, the pandemic presented a challenge, disrupting their plans to showcase products at a trade show in March 2020. Yet, this setback paved the way for increased support for Black-owned businesses, allowing Hall’s brand to gain even more visibility during a critical time.
Today, Hall boasts over 100,000 followers on her Instagram account, using the platform to showcase her beautiful products and connect with customers. The 15 Percent Pledge encourages major retailers to allocate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned businesses, further emphasizing the importance of representation in the retail space.
Hall emphasizes that strong relationships with vendors and financial institutions are crucial for small businesses, particularly for Black entrepreneurs. As Estelle Colored Glass makes its mark in Charleston’s retail landscape, it continues to inspire others with its story of resilience, creativity, and dedication to reviving a classic craft.
So, if you find yourself in Charleston, don’t miss the chance to visit Estelle Colored Glass at The Charleston Place Hotel. Whether you’re a glassware enthusiast or simply looking for a unique gift, this new store promises to be a colorful addition to the community, where every piece tells a story and shines with artisanal charm.
