Erin (Minnigan) Mehard joins Weston & Sampson as Senior Project Planner in Charleston

The North Charleston office of Weston & Sampson recently welcomed a new addition to their team. Erin (Minnigan) Mehard, a certified American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), has joined the firm as a Senior Project Planner. With a dynamic career spanning over nine years, Erin’s specialities include historic preservation and urban planning, making her a valuable asset to the firm.

Minnigan’s past experiences lie across a variety of sectors, including the public and nonprofit. With a keen interest in maintaining authentic, livable communities, she is passionate about promoting managed growth and resilient design. As part of Weston & Sampson, she looks forward to aiding the firm’s clients in achieving their vision of their communities’ future while expanding the planning practice throughout the Southeast.

Minnigan’s academic backing, along with her professional expertise, uniquely positions her to excel in her new role. The Florida University alumna holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Additionally, she earned her BA in Historic Preservation & Community Planning from the College of Charleston, thereby equipping her with the necessary skills to undertake significant planning projects.

About Erin Minnigan

When asked about what other professions she might have chosen, Erin expressed her fondness for restoration work, particularly of mid-century furniture. She conveyed that such work would have been her alternate career choice, giving a glimpse into her appreciation for preserving historical items.

Outside her professional life, Minnigan enjoys relaxing by taking long walks along local greenways or at the beach. She also holds the distinction of being a fan of Pride & Prejudice, hailing it as her favorite book and movie. Undoubtedly, her love for historical elements transcends into her personal preferences.

As evidenced by her favorite quotation, Minnigan emphasizes the importance of holistic city development. She follows the words of Jane Jacobs — “Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.” With this outlook, Erin is bound to make a significant impact in her new position.

Moving Forward with Weston & Sampson

Boosted by Minnigan’s addition, Weston & Sampson, an established firm in the planning, design, and construction industry, expects to further strengthen its presence in Southeast. Erin’s commitment to community planning and historic preservation is in line with Weston & Sampson’s mission to deliver sustainable services that transform communities. Given her background and passion for urban planning, Minnigan is set to bring a fresh perspective and drive beneficial change in her role as Senior Project Planner.
