Charleston natives, Justin Wages, David Kinloch, and Andre Grundy, have recently launched an exciting new sparkling wine brand called Don Luchi Prosecco. It is one of fewer than ten Prosecco brands in the United States that are minority-owned.
In a unique move, the trio traveled to Italy in 2024, immersing themselves in the traditional Prosecco-making process. This was a strategic step to understand and later replicate the unique taste and quality of Italy’s renowned sparkling wine, specifically from the northeast region, for the folks at home.
The new Prosecco has been formulated using 100% Glera grapes – the variety traditionally used in Prosecco production. The wine stands out for its striking bouquet filled with the aromatic notes of golden apple, peach, rose, wisteria, almond, and toasted bread. Don Luchi Prosecco offers a very dry, savory, and complex taste that will match the finest examples from the Prosecco Superiore DOCG zone. Pair it with soft cheeses and spicy foods, such as Lowcountry favorites like shrimp and grits, for a complete gastronomic experience.
Charleston locals can now enjoy this exclusive Prosecco at several locations in the area, including Coosaw Liquor & Wine, Venning Liquor On The Ferry, Da Brown Bag ABC Store, Coterie, Smokin Rose Speakeasy, and Nigels Good Food.
The team behind Don Luchi Prosecco aims to transform ordinary moments into luxurious experiences. They are focused on bringing global experiences to Charleston. “To make the finer things in life accessible and unforgettable” is the mission fuelling their brand and purpose.
With the launch of this new brand, Charleston is all set to experience the finest Prosecco, carefully crafted and properly aged. This local brand is surely going to leave a mark not only on the wine industry but also on the way Charleston residents commemorate their special moments.
