Emergency responders were called to a late-night fire at a Daniel Island apartment building this past Saturday. Currently, the Charleston Fire investigators are trying to ascertain the root cause of this blaze.
The incident occurred at the Seven Farms Village apartment building on Daniel Island. Crews from the Charleston Fire Department were alerted to the situation at 11:39 p.m., as informed by the Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch.
The Fire Marshal’s Office advised that the fire originated from a third-floor apartment. Fortunately, the apartment building’s sprinkler system managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading.
The precise cause of this fire remains undetermined. However, the investigators have associated it with a potential electrical issue in the affected apartment.
Following the incident, about 40 units within the complex were evacuated. The residents waited outside the building past midnight on Sunday, anticipating clearance from the Charleston firefighters. The fire department confirmed that the only unit that suffered direct damage from the fire was the apartment where it initiated. However, six additional apartments experienced water damage.
According to officials from the Charleston Fire Department, there were no reported injuries during the incident, which was a sigh of relief for everyone involved.
Following the incident, the American Red Cross came forward to assist three adults and one minor affected by the blaze. As the data suggests, majority of the displaced residents sought shelter with their family and friends.
The investigation is ongoing, and further updates regarding the incident are awaited.
Residents of the Seven Farms Village apartment building are now dealing with the aftermath of the fire. Meanwhile, the Charleston Fire Department continues its efforts to pin down the precise cause of this incident.
