Cougars Return Home for CAA Series with Monmouth

CHARLESTON, S.C. –

College of Charleston is gearing up for an exciting weekend as they prepare to host Monmouth at Patriots Point in a highly-anticipated CAA series. The Cougars, coming off two consecutive CAA series victories, will look to extend their winning streak as they face off against the Hawks. The series kicks off on Friday at 4 p.m., with additional games scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 11:45 a.m.

Exciting Activities Planned

Sunday’s game is not to be missed as it is Kids Day at the field. The first 100 children in attendance will receive a pair of Charleston sunglasses, adding to the fun and excitement of the day. Additionally, a face painter will be on-site, and fans will have the opportunity to meet the players during a postgame autograph session.

Get Your Tickets

Don’t miss out on the action – tickets are available for $10 for adults and $5 for youths each day. This series marks the beginning of a seven-game homestand for the Cougars, including matchups against Charleston Southern and William & Mary in the coming weeks.

Strong Performance So Far

The Cougars are currently tied for third in the CAA with a 6-3 conference record. Their recent success includes sweeping Stony Brook and capturing two out of three games against UNCW on the road. With seven wins in their last eight games, Charleston’s overall record stands at an impressive 21-10.

Opponent Overview

Monmouth, on the other hand, started league play with a sweep of Towson but has struggled in recent weeks, dropping five of their last six games against Northeastern and William & Mary. The Hawks are currently tied for seventh in the CAA with a 4-5 conference record and hold an overall record of 9-17.

Series History

This weekend’s series marks only the second all-time meeting between the Cougars and the Hawks. Last year, Charleston dominated the series, sweeping all three games in West Long Branch, N.J. The Cougars’ bats were on fire, scoring 43 runs and recording nine extra base hits over the course of the series.

Notable Performances

Highlight performances from last year’s series include Luke Wood’s historic three-home run game, making him the seventh Cougar in school history to achieve this feat. Cole Mathis also made a significant impact, hitting a pair of three-run home runs in the middle game. Wood and Mathis continued their success in the final game, both contributing home runs to secure the sweep for Charleston.

Upcoming Schedule

Following this weekend’s series, the Cougars will continue their homestand with a midweek rematch against Charleston Southern on Tuesday, followed by a three-game series against William & Mary next weekend. Looking ahead, the Cougars will only have one more home CAA series this season, facing Northeastern on May 10-12.

Conclusion

With the Cougars on a hot streak and looking to extend their winning ways, this weekend’s series against Monmouth promises to deliver exciting baseball action. Fans can expect a thrilling weekend of baseball at Patriots Point as the Cougars aim to solidify their position in the CAA standings.
