North Charleston, S.C. – The College of Charleston Cougars put on a hitting clinic as they defeated the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 12-2 in a run-rule victory on Tuesday night to even the season series.
The Cougars wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning, taking a 2-1 lead thanks to a two-RBI single by Cole Singsank. Singsank continued his hot streak in the third inning, launching a three-run homer to extend Charleston’s lead to 5-1.
In the fourth inning, Charleston added two more runs before Trotter Harlan joined the home run parade with a solo shot in the fifth inning, making it an 8-1 game. Harlan wasn’t satisfied with just one homer, as he later belted a three-run blast to put the game out of reach for the Bucs.
Trotter Harlan had a monster game, going 3-for-6 with two home runs, four RBI, and three runs scored. Cole Singsank also had a big night at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a homer and five RBI.
The Cougars’ pitching staff of Daniel Brooks, Alex Lyon, Emmett Bice, and Davis Aiken held Charleston Southern to just two runs on six hits, shutting down the Bucs’ offense.
Charleston will look to carry the momentum from this win into their upcoming three-game series against Monmouth. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 4:00 p.m.
