Charleston International Airport Preps for Holiday Travel Surge

In anticipation of the upcoming Independence Day holiday, Charleston International Airport is gearing up for a noticeable surge in passenger traffic. The airport authorities are preparing for a significant increase in traffic from June 27 to July 7, during which several initiatives will be implemented to ensure smooth airport operations.

Several Initiatives in Place

To handle the expected increase in passenger flow, the airport will have additional staff on duty to assist travelers. Along with this, real-time flight statuses, parking availability, and potential delay updates will be provided on social media channels.

“Our team is committed to ensuring safe, efficient travel experiences for all, embodying the spirit of independence in every journey,” stated Elliott Summey, Executive Director and CEO of Charleston International Airport.

Travel Tips Provided by the Airport

Charleston International Airport has also offered several travel tips to passengers:

  1. Check flight statuses before heading to the airport.
  2. For domestic flights, plan on arriving at least two hours before departure, and for international flights, three hours before is recommended.
  3. Factor in the additional time required for remote parking as parking spaces fill up quickly during busy travel periods.
  4. Discounting the comfort and convenience of passengers, a free airport shuttle service will transport passengers to the terminal.
  5. If traveling domestically, passengers can avail of Charleston International Airport’s free baggage check-in service, Check N’ Go, which has a remote check-in station on the second level of the daily parking garage and two additional stations on the terminal front curb.
  6. Following the Transportation Security Administration’s guidelines for liquids, gels, and electronics is advised.
  7. Travelers can also use the TSA PreCheck for expedited security screening.

For more thorough understanding of the TSA guidelines before flying, travelers can visit the TSA’s Travel Checklist. In an era of increasing travel demands, Charleston International Airport’s proactive approach and endeavor to provide seamless passenger experience during the holiday travel surge truly underlie its commitment to passenger service and satisfaction.
