Celebrate Christmas in July in the Holy City

Summer is heating up the Holy City, but residents and visitors alike are finding ways to stay cool with upcoming Christmas in July festivities. Two renowned hotels in Charleston are gearing up for some frosty fun, offering a whimsical reprieve from the high temperatures with winter holiday-themed events set to commence next month.

Hotel Bennett: Tea with Santa

Hotel Bennett’s elegant Camellias is inviting guests to enjoy a sip of the holiday spirit with their “Tea with Santa” event, which takes place every Wednesday throughout the entire month of July. Patrons can interact with Ole Saint Nick, who will be taking a break from his North Pole duties to join in the fun. In addition to meeting Santa, there are several festive activities lined up, like pineapple decorating and indulging in holiday-themed treats. Providing a unique opportunity to celebrate Christmas in the summer, Hotel Bennett charges $95 for adult admission and a reduced price of $65 for children under 12.

The Restoration Hotel: A Christmas Giveaway

Festivities continue at The Restoration Hotel, which is running a special giveaway now through Wednesday, July 10. In the giving spirit of the holiday, local residents are encouraged to nominate deserving families to win a magical two-night stay in Santa’s suite. The prize includes a room fully adorned with a giant Christmas tree, wrapped presents, and an included meal at the hotel’s spectacular rooftop dining venue, The Watch Rooftop.

Early Letters to Santa and Christmas Music

The Christmas spirit will prevail at The Restoration Hotel with more events between Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 28. The Library, housed within the establishment, will feature a mailbox for early letters to Santa, giving children an opportunity to send their wish lists ahead of the December rush. Additionally, the venue will set the mood with Christmas music playing during this period for an authentic holiday feel.

This unique celebration of Christmas in July offers residents and visitors an opportunity to break the summer monotony and bask in an unusual festive ambiance. Whether seeking a summer holiday-themed outing, a refreshing vacation, or simply looking to add a dash of winter merriment to the sultry summer, these events have something to offer everyone.

Spread the Word

If one is aware of any other Christmas in July events happening around the Holy City, sharing the information with the event organizing team could help spread the holiday cheer even further. The city is ready to embrace the winter holiday spirit, albeit several months early, making it a cool summer destination with an unusual yet enjoyable take on traditional July activities.
